Jermann, Friuli
The roots of Jermann go back to 1881, when ancestor Anton Jermann moved from the Burgenland wine region in Austria to settle in Farra d’Isonzo and began viticulture. The modern course of the winery was set in the 1970s by Silvio Jermann, who, after studying and gaining work experience abroad, introduced innovative techniques and became particularly famous for his pioneering wine Vintage Tunina; a blend that turned the traditional Italian wine world upside down.
Innovation as a Foundation
Jermann’s philosophy combines respect for tradition with progressive, creative vinification. Silvio Jermann was one of the first in Friuli to apply modern blending techniques and to bottle his wines with screw cap closures to better preserve quality and freshness. The winery places a strong emphasis on organic field methods, the absence of chemical residues or genetically modified ingredients, and the protection of biodiversity in the vineyards.
