Col Solare Estate, Washington
Col Solare was founded around the first vintage of 1995 as a collaboration between Marchesi Antinori (one of the oldest wine families in the world) and Chateau Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, with the goal of creating the best possible Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines from Washington. In 2007, the partners built their own winery and planted an estate vineyard on Red Mountain to further deepen this vision.
American wine in the Italian way
The philosophy of Col Solare revolves around uniting two wine cultures: Italian tradition and American expression of terroir. In the vineyard, the same principles that the Antinori family uses in Tuscany and Umbria are applied, with a focus on fruit quality, structure, and aging potential. In the cellar, the team, led by head winemaker Stephanie Cohen, works with great care on fermentation, blend selection, and aging to create wines that display balance, depth, and elegance, regardless of the vintage.
