Amalaya
Bodega Amalaya is located in the heart of the Calchaquí Valley in northern Argentina. Here, in one of the highest wine-growing regions in the world, the winery combines innovation with respect for the unique terroir. Amalaya means “hope for a miracle”—a fitting name for a winery that translates the extremes of the Andes into expressive and balanced wines.
History and Origins
Bodega Amalaya was founded by Donald Hess, the renowned Swiss entrepreneur and wine pioneer who also established The Hess Collection in Napa Valley. Following the success of his project at Bodega Colomé—Amalaya’s parent winery—he decided in 2010 to establish a separate winery that would produce more modern and accessible wines, with the same focus on quality and terroir. Today, Amalaya is part of the Hess Family Wine Estates portfolio.
